There are different variables like ServerStatus or version properties the generic SDK part of a client application may want to subscribe for. This requires an additional SDK internal subscription at the moment. It would be difficult to use an application layer subscription since the status information must be extracted by the SDK out of the normal data streams.

If we would introduce a new NotificationData type and a new MonitoringFilter, it would be easy for an SDK to extract such information just based on the NotificationData type. This would allow us to exchange also other system specific events or data in a much more efficient way since such information can be normally hidden by the application developers.

We have such a special concept already for Subscription status changes using the StatusChangeNotification as a special NotificationData type but this one is not generic enough to be reused for other system messages like server shutdown or data type dictionary version change.
