Summary0003534: 7.7.5 ApplyChanges() - clarifications needed regarding private keys and existing/new connections
Description

CMPWG Sep-15-2016:

We think there needs to be some additional commentary that describes the situation for connected clients. For example:

  • what should happen to currently connected endpoints if the private keys do not change? can they stay connected? what about on re-connect, is the client assumed to auto-trust the new public cert?

  • what should happen if the private key is changed, and the applyChangesRequired=FALSE? does this parameter mean that the certificate is immediately put to use, and if so, what happens to the currently connected endpoints?
