|

Hi,
Our company is in the process of passing the Windows Vista Certification:
http://microsoft.mrmpslc.com/InnovateOnWindowsVista/LearnBuild.aspx?tab=tab1
The OPCCore.msi is a part of the installation and it's not Windows Vista Certified. All dlls will be copied to the system32 folder and will not be digitaly signed. The certification test will fail.
Are there any plans to sign the OPCCore files and get the OPCCore.msi certified?
Thanks. |

Currently we do not have a signed version of any OPC distributed DLLs. The OPC Foundation has purchased an Authenticode certificate and will sign all future versions of our executables, but it may take some time for us to provide signed versions.
If your need for Vista Certification is immediate, I suggest you request a waiver as allowed by the Vista certification program:
"Limited waivers may be available for 3rd party redistributables when singed versions are not available." |

Thanks for your reply Randy.
I've contacted Microsoft and it seems that it's possible to get a waiver for files that are not signed, have no embedded manifest and/or have no level of execution.
The problem is that the OPCCore.msi copies files to the Windows\system32 folder. This is not acceptable and no waivers will be granted for that. |
