About OPC’s
Unified Architecture
The OPC Foundation
Unified Architecture defines secure reliable interoperability
for exchanging data and information from the factory floor to
the enterprise. The open, cross platform, service oriented
architecture builds on and unifies the existing, successfully
adopted OPC Foundation interfaces.
UA was developed
collaboratively by over thirty OPC vendors. The collaboration
also included many other standards consortia that have
contributed to the development and have committed to producing
UA companion specifications. These companion specifications will
describe the standard way to expose and exchange the data and
information models defined by these other organizations,
utilizing UA as the interoperable transport mechanism.
About the
Developers' Conference
and Workshop
The OPC
Foundation will conduct both an OPC UA Developers’ Conference
and an OPC UA Developers’ Workshop in
Munich, Germany during the week of October 27, 2008. The UA
Developers’ Conference will begin at
13.00 on Monday, October 27, 2008 and end at 17.00 on Wednesday,
October 29, 2008. The UA Developers’ Workshop will begin at
08.30 on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 and end at 17.00 on
Friday, October 31, 2008. The Wednesday session will be
the final session for the DevCon and the
first session for the Developers’ Workshop.
The purpose of the Developer Conference is to provide an
overview of OPC UA technology. The DevCon
will answer the question, “What is OPC UA?” The goal of
the DevCon is to motivate vendor companies
to develop OPC UA products and to motivate end-user
companies to use OPC UA products. Seating for
this event is limited to 95 participants.
The purpose of the Developers’ Workshop is to provide hands-on
training for product developers. The Workshop will answer the
question, “How do I implement OPC UA?” The goal of the
Developer
Workshop is to provide a jumpstart for those companies
that are already committed to developing
OPC UA. If you are a Code Developer and you plan to
attend the Developers’ Workshop and you have
not attended a previous DevCon, you should attend the
Monday and Tuesday sessions. This was
the strongest recommendation that we
received from the group feedback at the June OPC UA Developers’
Workshop. Seating for this event is limited to 50
participants - 25 in the embedded C/C++ track
and 25 in the .NET track.
Payments for both events will be by credit card unless you need
to process with a Purchase Order
Number.
If you will only attend the DevCon, the cost will be $1200 USD.
