About OPC Unified Architecture

The OPC Foundation Unified Architecture defines secure, reliable interoperability for exchanging data and information from the factory floor to the enterprise. The open, cross platform, service oriented architecture builds on and unifies the existing, successfully adopted OPC Foundation interfaces.

UA was developed collaboratively by over thirty OPC vendors. The collaboration also included many other standards consortia that have contributed to the development and have committed to producing UA companion specifications. These companion specifications will describe the standard way to expose and exchange the data and information models defined by these other organizations, utilizing UA as the interoperable transport mechanism.

About the Developers' Workshops

The OPC Foundation will conduct an OPC UA Developers’ Workshop in Frankfurt, Germany on September 22-24, 2009 and again in New Orleans, LA on October 27-29, 2009. The UA Developers’ Workshops will begin at 08.30 on Tuesday and end at 13.00 on Thursday.

The purpose of the Developers’ Workshop is to provide hands-on training for product developers. The Workshop will answer the question, “How do I implement OPC UA?” The goal of the
Developer Workshop is to provide a jumpstart for those companies that are already committed to developing OPC UA. Seating for this event is limited to 40 participants - 20 in the embedded C/C++ track and 20 in the .NET track.
