Welcome to OPC Compliance

The OPC Foundation established the OPC Certification program to help vendors verify that their products meet end-user requirements of plug-and-play interoperability, robust behavior and meet minimum performance expectations by providing well-defined behavior, documentation and Test Tools for the testing of OPC Servers and Clients.

Objectives

  • To define and continually refine "Compliance" to ensure OPC applications are interoperable and robust
  • Define the standard and expected behavior for OPC Servers and Clients
  • Define test-cases for vendors to use during their product testing and for Certification Test Lab personnel for official testing
  • Develop tools for vendors to incorporate into their development life-cycle

Why Certification Matters

Certification establishes credibility for OPC products. Determining that a product is certified is the first question that an end user should ask a vendor. Here's why:

  • Ensures products are compliant to OPC Specifications
  • Ensures products can successfully interoperate with OPC products from other vendors
  • Ensures products remain robust and don't crash even in the toughest and most extreme situations
  • Ensures vendors follow best-practice behavior in the design of their products

Transparency

The Compliance Working Group is comprised of OPC Foundation member companies to assist with the defined objectives, but also to provide transparency, checks and balances to ensure that Compliance remains credible and objective.

All released written documentation provided by the Compliance Working Group is available in the Specifications download section.

Certification Logos

Once a product has been certified, the vendor will receive a "Self-Tested" or "Certified" logo as appropriate for use only with the product that has passed the certification tests. Vendors that earn the right to display the Certification Logos must abide by a specific Logo License Agreement.
