Independent Certification Test Lab now open for registration

The first independent certification test lab is now open for registration. This is a very important milestone for all vendors who want to show their dedication to quality and reliability. The OPC Foundation independent certification test lab, the corresponding process for certification, and the enhanced certification logo program was the brainchild of a working group that was composed of vendors and end users alike championing the effort in the interest of true plug-and-play secure reliable interoperability.

Many vendors have already indicated support for this important enhanced certification program, but we are opening up registration to all members to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to get certified in the independent certification test lab.

The first independent certification test lab is opening in Europe, at the facility of Ascolab. Ascolab staff has been actively involved in OPC since the beginning of OPC. The principals of Ascolab are the original developers of the OPC Foundation compliance test tools and have continued to enhance and maintain the tools over the life of OPC.

I'm very pleased to announce the importance collaboration and partnership between the OPC Foundation and Ascolab, and the significance of the independent certification test lab to truly achieve interoperability that exceeds the end-user expectations.

As vendors test their products in the OPC Foundation independent certification test lab, complete results of the testing and the corresponding logo program that goes along with the lab will be available on the OPC Foundation website with visibility in the compliance section of the website and the OPC Foundation product catalog.

This is one of the significant benefits of being a member of the OPC Foundation.
