Grant has a BE and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University Of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has spent 25 years with three major process control system vendors, including the last 9 years with Emerson Process Management. Emerson's many product lines and applications leverage OPC as a cornerstone technology. The DeltaV, PROVOX and RS3 systems all provide OPC interfaces as a part of Emerson's open architecture strategy. The DeltaV system currently supports the Data Access and the Alarms and Events and Historical Data Access specifications.

Emerson's commitment to the goals of the OPC foundation has been unwavering, having been one of the initial Task Force and founding members. Emerson has demonstrated its commitment in the past by providing resources in support of the Foundation as well as participating on specification committees. Currently, Emerson has resources that are supporting OPC UA efforts. Grant will continue the Emerson tradition of strong OPC support.
